@yaleenvironment360 published a fun little article highlighting the benefits of "immersion in nature."
First, let's talk a little bit about "ecopsychology." Here at EON, we often talk about "ecotherapy," which refers to the techniques and programs aimed at improving mental health by interacting with nature. Ecopsychology goes beyond that by striving to examine and understand the process that both bonds us with, and alienates us from, nature.
Here are the highlights:
βResearch has shown that spending 120 minutes in nature per week can substantially improve mental wellbeing, and can provide a multitude of other health benefits.
βForest schools in the US have increased by 500% since 2012
βStudies have shown that more exposure to nature results in increased community cohesion and decreased crime.
βMore and more researchers are beginning to look at the effects of nature, and other professionals are beginning to incorporate green spaces and nature into their practice.
